In honour of the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Navy, HMCS Fergus: Life Abroad a WWII Corevette explores the living conditions of the crew and their relationship with the town in whose honour the ship was named. The Fergus was one of 70 Canadian corvettes that providfed anti-submarine defence for the merchant convoys carrying essential supplies of food and equipment to Britain. HMCS Fergus was the last Canadian corvette commissioned in 1944.

Through a wide variety of hands-on activities you'll learn about owl plumage, calls and behaviour, habitat requirements, migration patterns and owl folklore. An evening 'Owl Prowl' in the evening in the Guelph area is planned. Participants will receive a recording of owl calls. Have you ever wondered what made those marks in the snow? In this full day program we will be learning how to track animals. We will be studying the tracks and signs of Ontario mammals and other types of wildlife. By the end of the day you will learn tracking terminology, proper track measurement, pattern classification, clear print classification, compression shapes, general scat identification and track aging theory. There is an outdoor component that will have us looking for and following animal tracks. Each participant will receive a copy of The Mammals of The Arboretum booklet which includes many tracks.
